Nedenfor følger en alfabetisk oversikt over mellomstatlige organisasjoner (IGOs) av antatt interesse. Det er i hovedsak brukt engelske betegnelser. Det vises til organisasjonenes hjemmeside og til eventuelt stiftelses- eller konstitusjonsdokument. Dessuten siteres kort fra egne hjemmesider hvilket formål organisasjonene har, ved siden av noen spredte bemerkninger fra min side.
Det norske Utenriksdepartementet har i 2001 utarbeidet en oversikt over Internasjonale organisasjoner Norge er medlem av (organisert alfabetisk etter organisasjonens navn) - dessverre uten lenker videre. Wiktors Multilateral Treaty Calendar: 1648-1995 (1998) har på s. 1477 flg fjorten tettskrevne tospaltede sider med "List of international organizations". European Free Trade Association (EFTA)
EFTA er "...an international organisation comprising four states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland". EFTA ble grunnlagt 1947 (med flere medlemmer som nå er gått i EU) "...on the premise of free trade as a means of achieving growth and prosperity amongst its Member States as well as promoting closer economic co-operation between the Western European countries".

Europeisk økonomisk samarbeid (European Economic Agreement) (EØS; EEA)

International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT)

International Labour Organisation (ILO)

International Whaling Commission (IWC)

North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)

United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS)

United Nations Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea
Konvensjonen av 1982 "... lays down a comprehensive regime of law and order in the world's oceans and seas establishing rules governing all uses of the oceans and their resources. It embodies in one instrument traditional rules for the uses of the oceans and at the same time introduces new legal concepts and regimes and addresses new concerns. The Convention also provides the framework for further development of specific areas of the law of the sea."
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)

Universal Postal Union (UPU)

World Trade Organization (WTO)
