Library cards
All students receive a combined student- and library card  from the students office. Staff at UoB receive library user codes on the flip side of their ID-cards, but
this code is not automatically available to the library without registration. All other users have to register at the library. Registration is quick if you have an official ID.

The normal lending period for a book is 4 weeks. Journals are, with a few exceptions, for in-library use only. Items held at other branches of the Bergen University Library may be borrowed directly, or you can send an online request through BIBSYS and collect it at the Science Library. If the item is already on loan, we can place a hold for you. When the requested material is available, you will be notified  by e-mail or ordinary mail. Photocopied articles will be forwarded directly to users with invoice codes (payers patron-id). Others have to pay at the desk.

Print and photocopy services: Copy cards, codes, and Pullprint.
Copy cards are sold at the circulation desk. Prices alternatives are:
NOK 10,- . for 10 copies, or NOK 100,-   for 150 copies. University staff may now use their "ansatt-kort" (Staff-idcard) for their copying, on machines with the Pullprint option, as well as copy codes. Students can  deposit an amount on their student card, using a credit card.  Go to:

Searching databases
The library subscribes to a number of databases within different subjects. Most of them can be accessed from all PCs on the University's net via the library portal;
Bibliotekportalen, where also all other electronic resources can be found
BIBSYS is the  library's catalogue, where you can find the books and serials in the collections. The library staff gives introductions to the use of BIBSYS, the
library portal and the databases. More about courses and user guidance.
