”Professional Women and Equality – a Scandinavian Perspective” This proposed Nordic Seminar is a follow up from the Ottawa conference 2001. As members of IFUW, International Federation of University Women and UWE, University Women of Europe, we would like to focus on a Scandinavian perspective on women and equality. Present problem areas related to our position as academic women, that is women with an academic degree working within or outside the University, should be addressed. Adequate representation of women both in academia and leading positions in the society is still a problematic issue. Reports such as 'Women in Science' and the Greenfield report 'Set Fair' have analysed and presented suggested solutions. Women should have mentors both within and outside academia. In the EU the under representation of women
is a point of focus, with documents focussing on the need for future academic competence and the
recruitment of younger women in the coming years. An example is the
report published by the ERA, European Research Area, Juli 2003
’Reseachers
in the European Research Area: One profession , Multiple careers’.
The
Norwegian Association of University Women invite you to submit an abstract or a paper on
one or more of these topics. Time: 4-6 June 2004
We
would like to start Friday after lunch to give some of you the possibility
to travel the same day. Sunday the seminar will end with Lunch and then
departure. Contact persons are leader of Norwegian Association of University Women, Anne Asserson, anne.asserson@fa.uib.no tlf +47 55584580 and Anne Holden Rønning anne.ronning@eng.uib.no
