Dear colleagues from the EUROCRIS Platform Group!
It will be my pleasure to be your host at the Institute of Information Science in Maribor on 6th and 7th
October.
The Institute (IZUM) is located in the center of the city of Maribor. The address is: Presernova 17, 2000
Maribor, Slovenia .
Arriving in Maribor:
Maribor can be reached through two airports: Graz (60 km from Maribor) and Ljubljana-Brnik (120 km from
Maribor). Both airports have frequent connections to main European cities. I suggest that you fly to Graz. Another alternative is also Vienna (250 km from
Maribor), but then you would have to rent a car. I will try to organize that someone will meet you at the airport in Graz
or Ljubljana. It will be either myself, our driver or one of my colleagues. If you arrive at an inconvenient time, I will arrange that a
taxi from Maribor will be waiting for you, which will cost you 45 Euros per car (from Graz).
Of course, you have to inform me about the exact time of your arrival, so that we can arrange on time for your transfer to
Maribor. If we send a driver, he will hold the "EUROCRIS" sign.
Our colleague Franc Holzer from Graz offers quite an
"adventurous" alternative. He could organize bikes and take you along the international Styrian cyclelane R2 from Graz to Maribor.
Hotel:
I suggest that you all settle in one hotel. I managed to negotiate a very reasonable prices in a beautiful five-star
Habakuk hotel in the
natural surrounding of Maribor. The hotel has a lot of sports facilities (swimming pools, saunas etc.) and is also a perfect spot for hiking
through the beautiful scenery of the Pohorje hills. The hotel is located about 10 minutes from the city center at the
foothills of Pohorje, where the world ski cup for women takes place every year.
Attached you will find a hotel reservation form (in MS Word), which you can fill in and send by fax or
e-mail to the Hotel.
The transportation arrangement from the hotel to IZUM and back during the meeting is being taken care
of.
I suggest you to take an extra day or two to visit Bled
- a small town with a beautiful lake in the Slovenian Alps.
Costs:
The costs for the conference organization, coffee breaks, lunches and the Saturday outing to
Ptuj will be covered by the Institute of
Information Science. It could happen that you are asked to participate for bus transfers,
which will cost you less than 50 Euros.
