In fact ERGO can be seen as a predecessor of a future ERIS [which could e.g. be a "combination" of CORDIS and the national CRIS's]. Therefore we are anxious to hear about the progress of the ERIS feasibility study in this session (Helen Baird).

This session should also be a basis for a session/workshop/forum during CRIS 2002 and therefore has some political flavour as well.

From the recent CORDIS FOCUS No 178 it has become clear that ERA infrastructure "should not focus on advanced equipment, but also, and perhaps more importantly, on more 'immaterial' infrastructure such as collections, protected biotopes, clinical centres of investigation, libraries and observatories" (Minister De Donnea, Belgian presidency EU).

ERIS seems to fit perfectly in this vision.
